tuesday update :: prayers please

my mom needs your prayers. i arrived early this am to be with her after what seemed like progress yesterday. she was having difficulty taking in enough oxygen when i arrived and pains in her chest that did not subside. they moved her to an oxygen mask and increased how much oxygen she was receiving. (for the past few days she's had oxygen assist through the nose.) within about 30 minutes the oxygen was not enough. she is now intubated and back in icu.

they believe she has fluid in her lungs. they completed several xrays before and right after the intubation, plus a cat scan. we are awaiting results. her xray from first thing this am did not show progress from her sunday xray.

being back in icu allows them to monitor her better and treat her more aggressively. she is very aware of what is going on =( because they cannot increase her sedation until her blood pressure stabilizes. they expect to increase sedation within a few hours (she has requested increased sedation).

my dad is on his way up. as we know anything we will let you know. please pray for her -- peace, strength and healing. i am sitting in the waiting area as they complete a few things in icu with her.

i think i'm going to steal copy one of the hospitals signs and put it on my parents' front door:

Please, be courteous when you have a respiratory infection [I will add] or if you have been around anyone with a respiratory infection. this includes wearing clean clothes (not wearing clothes that have been around others with an infection), washing and using purell on your hands before entering and touching her and not coughing or sneezing around her. [maybe i'll even add a locker full of yellow protection gowns right inside the front door. hyper-sensitive, yes, but she needs to stay healthy after she wins this battle!]

I sometimes don't like to read because I am scared to hear if your mommy isn't doing well.

I hope that she gets better real fast! I will pray for her healing.

I am praying for you and your family. Don't feel you are over- reacting with the germs- I would be the same way. Being healthy and germ free is so important for your moms recovery. Hang in there :)

Oh sweetie! I am so sorry that she has had another relapse. I will certainly pray for her and for your family. I am sure this is very difficult for you all. I wish there was something more I could do for you.

Hugs,

I don't always comment but I always come to read how your mom is doing. You are on quite the roller coster and I wish you and your mom the best and hope she feel better soon. It is hard to see parents struggle with their health.
